Art Museums

There are plenty of art museums in London, for an experience that you and your Mum will be sure to remember you should go and visit the Tate Modern. This museum of international modern and contemporary art is open between 10am and 6pm almost every day with plenty of free entry exhibitions. If anyone journeying with you is disabled, you should ensure that you contact the museum beforehand to arrange parking spaces and hire mobility aids.

Other museums available in London include the British Museum, the British Library and Madame Tussauds for a bit of celebrity wax fun.

Afternoon Tea

Every Mother should be treated to an afternoon tea for Mother’s day at least once, and you have plenty of options when you stay at King’s Cross with us in London. For example, if your Mum is a thrifty reader, you won’t find a better experience than tea and cakes in the British Library’s own Café; costing just £20 for two people, you can enjoy a basic selection whilst surrounded by walls and walls of literature.

After saving money by staying at our cheap hotel in Kings Cross, you might consider treating Mum to the very eloquent experience of an afternoon tea at The Booking Office in St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The cost for two diners is no less than £75, but this venue consistently receives good reviews so it won’t disappoint. The architecture is fantastically gothic with a distinctively British feel that will augment your afternoon tea experience for the better.

London Eye

This one probably goes without saying, but if you’re in London, then you have to go on the Eye. If your Mum is yet to experience it then there is absolutely no doubt that you need to take her on this fantastic attraction. Anyone who has ever been on the Eye will tell you it is a worthwhile experience. When you think of London, you will definitely remember the view from the top.

For an extra special experience, try to time your trip on the Eye with the sunset for that day.

The Barbican

The Barbican is one of London’s best theatres, from here you can watch the latest cinema releases, attend talks and workshops, sit in their library or enjoy some beautiful theatre and dance. If the Mum in your life has a youngster who will be joining you on your stay, you could consider attending their adorable workshop on the Ghibli animated film Howl’s Moving Castle on Saturday 30th March. This activity will involve making a mask inspired by the film as well as a screening. Even better, this event is free, save for the 60p booking fee on their website.

Between the London Eye, museum tours, the Barbican and some delectable afternoon teas, we’re sure that you and your Mum will leave our hotel at the end of your stay feeling very satisfied. All that’s left for you to remember is to bring her a hand-written card!
